Mountains. Some are tall, some are small, and most are worth getting to know. Some of my mountain-fetish is fed by pursuing contrived goals and goofy lists, but mostly it is driven by the aesthetics of the mountain itself, the physical challenge, or boredom. My efforts thus far have been decidedly unfocused and half-ass, which may or may not change in 2011.

America’s Ultra 57:
This list of mountains is based on the notion of ‘prominence’, which if you look into it, will amaze you that anyone would care or be so opinionated about its calculation. But, ‘prominence’ mountains are super cool ’cause they typically have a huge range of flora, fauna, and of course BIG views. Again, my pursuit thus far of the Ultra 57 has been entirely based on a lack of dedicated effort.
Progress thus far: 12/57.
Mt. Whitney, Mt. San Jacinto, Mt. Humphreys, Grand Teton, Gannett Peak, Borah Peak, Mt Nebo, Deseret Peak , Ibapah Peak, Kings Peak, Star Peak, Wheeler Peak.
